The Australian Minister for Defence is currently Senator the Honourable Marise Payne. Senator Payne became the first female Minister for Defence on 21 September 2015. The Assistant Minister for Defence is currently The Honourable Darren Chester MP. The Minister for Veterans' Affairs and the Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for the Centenary of ANZAC is Stuart Robert MP.
